Database Administrator
About the role
We’re looking for a Database Administrator to join the Digital team at DDB Group Aotearoa.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in cloud-based data platforms, looking to join a creative, collaborative team that is dedicated to making creative work for some of New Zealand’s best loved brands.
What you’ll do:
In this role you will support the integration, storage, transformation, and application of data for one of New Zealand’s biggest apps and customer databases. You will work closely with agency departments to ensure we design and deliver the right end-to-end solutions for our clients, ensuring the quality delivery of data services.
You will work with modern cloud-based data platforms to build scalable, secure, and efficient data infrastructure. You will contribute to the development and communication of broader data transformation offerings, with a strong focus on leveraging Microsoft Azure and other cloud technologies.
Who you are:
For this role we are looking for someone with at least 2+ years of experience supporting database environments and integrating customer-level data sources, including:
- Designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based data solutions using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake Storage
- Building and maintaining Power BI dashboards connected to cloud and on-premises data sources
- Optimising and managing OLAP and OLTP data environments in hybrid cloud settings
- Proficiency in T-SQL, including query optimisation and productionising queries within Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database environments
- Proficiency in coding using Python for data related querying and automation tasks
- Experience in data architecture, data curation, and data wrangling from a variety of structured and unstructured sources
- Familiarity with data governance, especially when working with private and sensitive personal information
- Experience in automating data engineering pipelines across on-premises and cloud environments using tools like Azure Data Factory and Databricks notebooks
- Strong background in cloud data platform implementations, including security, monitoring, and cost optimisation
- Experience in how data is used to optimise and personalise customer journeys
- Commitment to good documentation
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with relevant data tools and platforms
- Excellent multitasking skills and task management strategies
- Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
Outside of your technical abilities, it will be important to be a confident decision maker and could explain processes or choices as needed to the team. This is a deadline driven role where time management plays a key part in your success.
